Our Exotic Veterinary Team Leaders

Accredited by the College of Veterinarians of Ontario

Dr. Tara da Costa, DVM

I am a vet practicing in Ontario, Canada with a conscious, compassionate, and collaborative philosophy and approach. Among others, my passions include accessible veterinary care, exotic animal well-being, and client education.

I am here to listen to your concerns, and work with you to address them in a way that works not only for your pet, but for you.

In my 18 years as a veterinarian, I have enjoyed experiences in companion animal general practice, emergency/ICU practice, shelter medicine, regulatory medicine, international vet medicine, and mobile veterinary practice. I am excited to be adding telemedicine to the list as I feel I can help pet parents access veterinary care that they may not otherwise be able to.

It is my hope to help ease your stress! Please consider booking an appointment with me if my approach resonates with you. When it comes to caring for your animal family members, we could make a great team!

Reid van den Hoef, RVT

I have had a passion for uncommon pets since childhood. Growing up in Ontario, Canada, I would often catch frogs, small lizards, and garden snakes. I have had the pleasure to keep many exotic species as companion animals such as rats, hamsters, mice, frogs, chameleons, geckos, turtles, and more. One of my special interests is designing fully bioactive and naturalistically accurate enclosures for specialty species kept in captivity. Being an exotic pet owner myself, I understand the stressors involved for both pets and owners in removing an exotic pet from the safety of their home and into an unfamiliar place. I am dedicated to providing quality care and management of your exotic pet’s medical needs without having to leave the home (or enclosure) wherever possible.
